The combination of business and law was irresistible for a thinking man bent on finding the answers to life's many riddles. With a natural born curiosity and analytical mind, Paul gets to the heart of the matter quickly.  Based on the benefits and costs, he offers practical options so that his clients can make informed decisions.  Whether he's advising on incorporations, business acquisitions, corporate or tax related re-organizations, insolvency, technology or employment related issues, Paul simplifies the riddles of business.

Paul is truly Canadian. Born in Halifax, he was raised in Montreal, Quebec and Oakville, Ontario, and later began his law career in Vancouver, working on behalf of one of the 'Big Five' banks.  A partner with Coady Filliter since 1994, he is responsible for the Commercial and Corporate law practice.   Paul has presented papers on corporate, real estate and bankruptcy, and insolvency law at numerous continuing legal education conferences and a paper on Family Trusts at the 1998 Atlantic Provinces Tax Seminar.  He enjoys teaching and has taught Commercial Law at St. Mary's University as well as Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law at Dalhousie Law School.

Paul’s practice includes assisting business owners in planning and implementing succession strategies, sometimes known as “exit planning”.   Paul earned the CEPA® designation from the Exit Planning Institute’s training and certification course in Chicago in April, 2008.  For more information about business succession and “Exit Planning” go to Exit Planning.

An active Rotarian, Paul enjoys playing hockey, tennis, and golf and has a ham radio license.
