One of the original partners of Coady Filliter, Jim has practiced primarily in the areas of Real Estate and Family Law for more than twenty years. He is thoroughly familiar with the real estate industry and is an owner of both residential and commercial property. If buildings needed an advocate, Jim Filliter would be it - he loves to see old buildings rehabilitated. Originally from Rothesay, New Brunswick, Jim has made Halifax his home since completing his articles in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He has been an active member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society since 1979. He has been elected to the Bar Council and involved in a number of committees including the Legal Ethics Committee, the Professional Standards Committee, the Legal Ethics Handbook Committee and the Discipline Committee. Jim is also an active member of the Family and Real Estate Subsections of the Canadian Bar Association. He was one of the founding members of RELANS (the Real Estate Lawyers Association of Nova Scotia), which was formed in 1994 and continues to be involved with the organization as a Director. He regularly attends conferences and seminars involving the practice of real estate law and family law. Jim spends many noon hours on the squash court, finding the release an excellent way to maintain the balanced perspective required for a busy law practice. EducationLL.B.
