Janice has been advising and advocating on behalf of clients since 1989, concentrating in the areas of family law & wills and estates.  A skilled negotiator and trial lawyer, Janice is committed to helping her clients resolve difficult issues by providing candid, practical advice and representation.

In the area of family law, she advises clients on issues including separation agreements, marriage and cohabitation contracts, child custody and access, spousal and child support, divorce, division of assets, and adoptions.  Janice has conducted trials and hearings at all levels of Court in Nova Scotia.   She was a partner with the firm of Beaton Derrick prior to joining Coady Filliter.

Finding a balance between work and leisure is important too.  Janice enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming and golfing.

Janice received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Saint Mary's University in 1985 and her Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1988.
